Abstract

Recently there have been lots of problems including food, environment and energy security in China. Such issues, especially land use, rice production, heavy metal pollution and rehabilitation of saline soil, have been studied for establishment of recycling-based society through fusing urban and rural area in Tianjin City in China. Urban area has been enlarging and diversity in agriculture in sub-urban area is increasing. Program for land use in urban, sub-urban and rural area is necessary for the objective of the project. New varieties of rice have been developing with new growing system for their potential performance using China-Japan Joint Research Center for Quality and Palatability of Rice in Tianjin city. GMOs have been developed to improve soil with salinity in Tianjin using genes for salt tolerance..
