Abstract

The use of chemicals in the industry draws various environmental and health impacts. When we design a production process which uses chemicals, risks caused by use and release of chemicals should be appropriately evaluated. In this study, industrial cleaning process, which uses a considerable amount of chemicals, is investigated. To reduce risks originated from cleaning process, many technologies and alternative cleansing agents have been developed and applied. However, such technologies are installed without quantitative evaluation. In this study, we developed a process model for industrial cleaning process to evaluate the emission of chemicals. Using the process model, results of risk assessment and life cycle assessment can be related to practical process design.
