Abstract

Economic Assessment of Enhanced Coalbed Methane Recovery by injecting CO2 was made. Enhanced Coalbed Methane Recovery Simulator, ECOMERS-UT, was developed to predict the methane production rate and CO2 storage rate and the results were verified by the comparison study with other commercial CBM Simulators. CO2 injection timing, CO2 credit price and economic condition of project site were considered in the economic assessment. Under present technological conditions Enhanced Coalbed Methane Recovery is not economically feasible without CO2 credit. The difference of the CO2 storage cost in China and Japan was estimated to be about US$60/t- CO2.
