Trials on Sustainable Society of Vernacular Type with Small Wind Turbines in Loess Plateau of China

Small size of wind turbines, AIRDOPHIN, has been successfully developed with new materials, advanced techniques of aerodynamics and acoustics and new controls systems. Round robin tests of the turbines are carried out at about ten sites in the world to confirm the performance and to derive new information. This wind turbine is installed also in Yurin university in Loess Plateau of China, in order to build the sustainable society of vernacular type. It is found that the small wind turbines are available to get electricity in the severe conditions such as dessert area. The observations continue to check the reliability of small wind turbine against yellow sand from the plateau.
